A few days after the purchase I am surprised by the richness, maturity and stability of this product, I fully comparable to the competition.

In a few moments I connected to WiFi and I was ready to sail with a fast browser with features scroll and zoom are very fluid, complete with flash and voice search. I also installed Opera Mobile as an alternative browser.
The object does its work tablet with video playback, audio, games, PDF reading, the Polaris Office productivity suite.

Excellent navigator (the device integrates a GPS receiver and a compass) with voice recognition and voice guidance.

Being a product made in Google, all the Google services are well integrated nolte: GMail, Google Maps, etc..
The Android Market allows you to download applications, many are free choices in a huge catalog. I found the Android market is very simple to use. The fact that Android is an open operating system, and constraints to use only the marketplace of Google to install new programs is a very important value for me.

I installed Skype, which now also supports video calling. The TF101-A1 is equipped with dual front and rear camera, with quality 5 megapixel and 1.2 megapixel respectively.

The tablet comes complete with HDMI output and one headphone + microphone jack.

The screen of  TF101-A1 10.1 ” is very sharp and has good brightness. And ‘a capacitive screen, with excellent sensitivity and resolution 1280×800 pixels. The brightness is good. The screen is protected by a durable glass type Gorilla Glass Corner, but reflects lot of light. Like other similar devices, it is virtually impossible to use it in full sun. Moreover, as we all know that the tablet is filled fairly quickly with fingerprints.
The aesthetics and finish with an elegant and very pleasant to the touch complete a very complete device from hardware point of view.

I bought the TF101-A1 feull with dock  is basically a keyboard, of normal size and quality, which includes two USB ports, a memory card reader MMC, SD, SDHC (Micro SD in addition to already present in the tablet ) and, hear hear, an extra battery to extend to 16 hours the average autonomy of the device!
The TF101-A1 device with keyboard is a real Super Tablet! It ‘like having a nice netbook, if necessary, turns into a tablet, parading on the screen.

Although I am a stickler, I must say that Asus has managed to churn out a product that can satisfy me completely, and with an amazing value for money.

I really like this EEE Pad Transformer TF101-A1 tablet, I cant believe I dont hear more about it. It was almost an accident that I found it and bought it.

If you want to know how well this product. Nothing is as good as the people who have used this product. Let’s take a look at an example.

Starting off, when you dock the tablet into keyboard is when you notice the weight. It definitely adds some heft to the tablet; granted, the weight is mostly the battery, which is why you get an extra 10 or so hours with the keyboard. This may be a turn off for some people, but it doesn’t really affect me.

When I put my tablet down last night, I simply closed it. This turned off the screen (and I’ve set my tablet to turn off the wireless when it is asleep, so that was off too), and when I woke up I opened the tablet/keyboard and it sprang right to the home screen. Now, when I went to bed the dock battery was a around 90%; but when I opened it it was at 39%. That’s quite a bit of a drain for just sitting there. The manual stated that it would take a few charging cycles for the battery to handle a full charge, so we’ll see how that goes and I will update this review accordingly… Read More

Asus EEE SliderFirst off, I promise not to allow the negative experience with my tablet buy to influence my product rating. I ordered Asus EEE Slider from an Amazon Warehouse Deal (Used – like new), but it wasn’t like new. When it arrived, it was dirty, had a gash on the back, and was dinged around the edges. This certainly influenced my seller rating, though.

The Asus Slider SL101 itself is actually quite cool and I find myself playing with ita lot. I own an original iPad2 and a Google Nexus One and will primarily use those devices for comparison.

Performance and Responsiveness: Great , can not notice a difference between the iPad2 and the Asus EEE Slider in normal use

Screen: Bright, crisp, no compaints

Battery Life: Rather poor. We don’t charge the family iPad2 for weeks. My Asus EEE Slider needs a daily charge. Most of the power is used by the WLAN, probably because of application activity and I might be able to tune it. My point: with the iPad2, I never had a need to look into this in the first place.

Build Quality and Durability: The sliding mechanism appears to be delicate. I am perpetually concerned when my kids use this Asus SL101 tablet. Frankly, I don’t expect it to last more than a couple of years.

Networking: I downloaded a couple of Tegra games that pull many Gigabytes of data from the internet during installation. The connection speed is excellent and the quality of the wireless connection is in line with other devices in my home and my office.

Misc: The speakers are in between the keyboard and the back of the screen, so when the Asus EEE Slider tablet is collapsed, you get only muffled sound. It appears that some of the sensors (compass) are in the keyboard unit. When you slide out the keyboard, the orientation of the screen is no longer where the sensors expect it to be, which can lead to some unexpected app hehavior (Google Sky)

Overall Asus EEE Slider SL101 was a superb tablet that I prefer over the iPad2 any day. I took away one star (should be 1 1/2 really) because of the very delicate sliding mechanism that is not made for kids’ hands, and the rather disappointing battery life. The keyboard, while a bit smaller than standard keyboards, ads a lot of value compared to a tablet with only an onscreen keyboard. Asus EEE Slider  could be the average user’s primary device for email and web browsing.

TF101 DockFirst off I need to name BS on Amazon’s ever changing prices. I purchased this last week TF101 Dock. Are we dealing in oil right here? Is there somebody speculating keyboard costs? That said, do not buy it when it is this high. It should go down simply as sure as the value of gasoline will climb.

I’ve had this TF101 Dock for a couple days now and I am getting to love it. I’ve even given my wife my laptop computer (only three months outdated) since the transformer is a lot extra functional now. It was fairly simple to get the TF101 Dock to the keyboard and figuring how one can remove it is easy enough too. It definitely works with my 16GB SD card so I am glad there. I wondered too if the keyboard sd reader would negate the tablet one and I used to be comfortable to seek out it did not. All stated my system is not any chugging along at 28GB. I then determined to look into the USB connectivity. It read my flash drive just fine. Nonetheless, when I threw an outdated windows system drive on it (I’ve it pulled from an previous pc and haven’t gotten to format it), the thing went crazy. I kept getting flecks of green in my display and response time from the mouse was terrible. It even slowed my animated wallpaper to a crawl. The drive was never recognized because the tablet actually cycled from on to off several times as well. Possibly it is a google not liking Microsoft thing. Who is aware of? After I removed the drive I used to be still having the lag and screen flecks so I attempted to shut down the tablet and restart it.
